How to Earn a Work-Life Balance?

On May Day, I saw wonderful posts on social media prioritising work and life with a balance

Working for 8 hours a day has become a norm after years of fighting against the working system, government and officials. It’s tough to get what we want but damn easy to go back to that stage again in a flip second.

The earlier generations fought for us to work for 8 hours only and take an off on Sunday. But today, companies hire employees making the statement “It’s not 9–5, it’s flexible work mode." Though you love working as per your mood and encourage a flexible mode of working, keep the boundary for work life. It’s needed.

Back in the 50s and 60s, when every country is struggling to get independence, every freedom fighter’s motto is to give a peaceful life to citizens, the work-life balance is the top one on the list. Work should be work, it should be for surviving, other than work, an individual should have a personal family life that keeps them at peace.

Why is the term ‘Personal Life’ highly misunderstood by the current Generation (GenZ)?

Anyone’s Personal life is to relax and spend quality time with friends and family, and I can’t stress this enough. Personal life is to go on vacation, travel to new places, meet new people, get new perspectives on life, and enjoy life to the fullest. Personal life is to discover our hidden talents as well, but I don’t stress this part so much. Lately, hidden talents are becoming the main source of income and the work schedule that’s been there for generations has gone in vain. Everyone’s being so stringent to themselves to earn more money, purchase more luxury products, share them on social media, and stick to that grind and embrace it.

There’s nothing wrong in choosing what you want, but there shouldn’t be one-day breakdowns when you chose your dream life, when you constantly worked your ass off to achieve it, and when you enjoy doing it without taking a break.

Even if you have one chance, do it with advice. Life is short in this perspective to take risks and regret later. Life is short choosing some random plan, working for years without rest, and finally experiencing the fruit of your hard work without having proper mental peace.

Believe that your body is not a machine. Your body needs a break though your mind and heart don’t. Your body can’t function when you ride it at high speed for a while and suddenly slow down and stop. Even your mind needs a break from thinking, overthinking, stressing out, and bursting out: it can’t handle multiple roles and you should listen to that, understand that, and act accordingly.

Schedule your work to certain hours. The rest is to rest your body and mind to fill with positive energy. Agree or not, the older generations are successful by doing every small thing perfectly. They aren’t fast, but they are perfect. They didn’t do 4 things at once, but they did that one thing right. They worked their ass off to earn money but made a work-life balance system for future generations to not suffer a lot but to enjoy their results. They are an inspiration indeed. They tell this even today, prioritise your health and family time more than your work. Though you love what you do, there should be a break from it often. Else, you break down unnecessarily.

Work 8 hours, rest for 8 hours, and enjoy life for 8 hours: 24 hours of a day is done productively this way ✅
